Idiot idiot, baka baka, baaka.

TMG_v10_063So, the second chapter. Since the volume's done in the usual convention of the author, light stuff at the beginning, more action oriented in the second part, it was to be expected... I do have to say that I quite like peering into personality of the people, their motivations and feelings, the relations between characters. The strong point of the novel is that these don't feel superficial, even if they're a little bit idealistic when it comes to the relations between platoon members.

Lapis-chan is wonderful. Chapter link.

Now, anime news (?), an anon has dropped off two links in comments (thanks anon!), apparently the anime development is progressing and it's gotten to a point where it had received a dedicated website and twitter account. I'm guessing we can expect dates soon.

Website link and Twitter link.

Follow the twitter, spread the news. I always say that the authors should be supported and books be paid for. Yes, that's the best thing you can do. But there are also other things, share stuff and publicize them, spread the news.
That's also an invaluable help and service done to the author and the publishers.

And it starts again.

TMG_v10_002-003Just yesterday I wrote one post, now I write another. That's how much I love atten... nope.

Starting off with Volume 10's translation. Not sure if I'll be posting other chapters immediately, but I already started translating the stuff.

This volume is considerably shorter than last one, about the same length as Volume 8.

While at it. Don't spam with requests for recommendations in the comments.

There's lots of communities like Animesuki's, 4chan's, reddit's, bt's (facebook group) and so on where you can ask for recommendations. This is a translation blog for dedicated series. I overlooked a few, but I don't want it to turn into spam.

I mean, we don't want the comments be spammed with "can anyone recommend me...", do we?

Prologue's link.

PS: Before anyone asks, 'illustrations' subpages were nuked for the most part. Any missing illustrations can be found in the chapters itself and be uploaded to it. The thinking behind it is: "It's light novel translation blog, not an illustration aggregator!" and that the actual books don't aggregate illustrations, instead they appear as chapters are read. The remaining illustrations are ones that cannot be found in the chapters themselves and covers.

The future and the past of AntiMagic. Not a release.

TMG_v10_CoverBasically, what the topic means, is that I'm gonna comment on the Volume 10 that came out a few moments ago (literally 5 minutes ago as I write it) and Volumes 1 to 9.

I wrote about this before, I said I'm gonna edit the old AMA stuffs. Well, I added the glossary and will be eliminating furigana from the text, all the double meanings will be moved to the glossary where they will be explained. You can see how it'll work with Prologue and Chapter 1 of Volume 1 as well as the Glossary itself. These two are already fully re-translated and converted to new format.

I already tried to edit some stuff to see how it goes, I TLchecked it at the same time... and I was horrified. Volume 1 is in horrible state. While it is true that it was my first of first translations and I did make quite a few mistakes in there, it has further degenerated from the original novel after a series of edits on baka-tsuki, my edits of the edits, then dual-blades' edits of the edits, then all the other edits... the state it is in now, is so pitiful only a full re-translation will work. I will do it in free time between translating AMA 10 and OSO 5. I don't know how much will require re-translation, but possibly about 4 volumes (4 volumes of AntiMagic had a bad luck of being on BT and also being my early translations), but I'll see how it looks like as I work on it.

For now, the priority is AntiMagic 10. I got the digital copy just a minute after it was released, but I haven't decided whether I will upload it right away after translation or wait for the raws.

One more thing, I coloured a new illustration! You can see it in the previous post (updated) or the gallery. It's the last greyscale illustration from AntiMagic Volume 9, that of the lovely imouto.

PS: Make sure to buy the books to support authors you like!

PS2: Chapter titles are up for those who desperately want even the smallest spoilers.

Depression.

TMG_v09_313C

I see youuuu.

Now then, in quick succession. Finishing up the volume,

And I can announce now, that this is the first time AMA caught up with the novel releases! I started when the fifth volume came out, more or less... meanwhile I translated lots of other stuff like Elysion or Omae wo, OSO. But catching up to a series coming out regularly while starting off 5 volumes behind, feels really nice.

Well, I barely made it though. 6 days and 10 hours remaining until Volume 10 comes out in Japan. Until them, I'm not sure what I'm going to do, probably slack off... then buy the book, read, get horrified by more darkness and get depressed.

Not to prolong, links: Chapter 6, Epilogue, Afterword and Full Text.

PS: A reminder, make sure to purchase the books if possible. I know I'm getting tiring with it, but as a translator who has respect for the author, his work, as well as all the other people involved in the process, I must at least do this much.
