Current Status - Not a Release - Why Did Translations Slow Down/Cease?

It's been a while since I wrote anything on the *blog*. Well, that's how just how things are.1Testing new note plugin

So, since I haven't given any word of myself or got anything to release yet (been translating but very slowly, so I don't have a chapter to release) I might as well give write something.

To put it shortly: there are two factors behind why there are no releases.

One is work, I've been really busy until last month. I've got less work now, but I'm busy - as always. I know I repeat this all the time, but whenever I mention I'm busy with work I'm always completely honest. Still busyness with work alone wouldn't be enough to stop me from translating stuff...

The second reason is fatigue when it comes to translation(?) and loss of interest in the story as a whole. Even when super busy with work, if I had the translation fever still going on I would definitely put out content. So the loss of interest in OSO's story must have had a major role in all that.

I still love OSO and AMA and I buy every volume of OSO that comes out (I have them all and will be buying next one that comes out this week), but the interest that drove me to translate like mad is mostly extinguished. I don't know whether it is because the story has grown repetitive and not as entertaining, or whether it is because my tastes changed.

One of the reasons might be the fact that OSO's author has been putting all his recent efforts into his other novel, Monster Factory (there hasn't been new OSO volume for half a year now, but the new novel has like 6 or 7 volumes already), but I should not blame this on author.

To put it into comparison, I've recently (and I mean recently, last week or so) started reading Kenja no Deshi wo Nanoru Kenja, and the story sucked me in completely to the point I'm rereading it again now. At some point of reading Nanoru Kenja I caught myself thinking "oh, I wanna translate it" which incredibly contrasted with my "recent" lack of interest on translating OSO. This clear difference in the level of my own interest in Nanoru Kenja and OSO made me realize why I was so apathetic when it comes to translating OSO for the last year.

Well, that's how it is. A combination of real life busyness and gradual loss of interest in OSO's story for multiple reasons.

Still, like I previously said I haven't decided to drop OSO's translations, at least not at this point. I do wait and honestly hope I will find a renewed interest in the story that would fire me up to translating it.

It's been nearly two years —— AntiMagic Academy's chapter: Lapis is a cute

I've been promising this to AMA's fans for a while - that I'll slowly start dropping these from time to time... but ended up taking a year and nine months before dropping a chapter.

Please don't beat me. I have hands full catching up to OSO right now.

Onto the chapter details... well, not much to detail other than that I decided to do Lapis ministory from AMA:AM2 because it's LAPIS AND SHE'S CUTE, and because it was fairly short + cute illustration (I love Lapis' illustrations).

If anything I would like to find time and do AMA:AM1 extra chapter which speaks of Kusanagi Takeru's and Suginami Ikaruga meeting in the academy which is quite loreful and high in importance to the story, but it's more than twice as big as the chapter I just finished, so maybe next time.

I Wish I Had More Talents at Dialects

This pretty much sums up the current chapter. I wish I had a talent for various dialects and I could make Shichifuku sound more like a sailor as he's stylized in Japanese, oh well, can't have everything.

Meanwhile, I'm back to work but trying to slowly progress at the same time, dunno what will happen of it.

Right, the link to the chapter here.

PS: I settled down on "Emperor Isopod" the most mundane translation for the next chapter's boss. 皇帝愚足虫 loses the wonky kanji meanings, but 愚足虫 is read グソクムシ which is literally bathynomus - an isopod. Well, can't eat cake and have a cake.

Release: Sei's Unlimited Icicle Works

Found some time and translated some stuff. That'd be pretty much it.

Of things that happened lately? Nothing really, I just bought today three first volumes of Ryuuou no Oshigoto novel 'cause they're half off on bookwalker. A great novel, highly recommend it - anime doesn't do it justice.

Right, back to release talk and OSO, here you go with the chapter 3 of volume 11.

I might translate some more soon unless I suddenly turn busy, don't count on it but consider a release could possibly happen within a week.

NEXT TIME: FISHING MANIACS APPEAR, ALSO...

PS: Illustrations this chapter are amazing.
PS2: Been a while since I said this, but please do purchase the books if you've read the translations. Support the author and the publisher by paying for the entertainment you enjoy.

The long-awaited update and release

Well, I hope you're not expecting too much because I don't have much, but I have the promised chapter I said I was working on.

Like usual I'm busy and I can't find motivation to push myself to dish out extra hours for translation... but that doesn't mean I'm going to give it up. There've been lots of people asking whether I drop the series or stop translating and such.

Nope. I'm not dropping anything or stopping translations.

I might not release as often as I used to because, well, I'm no longer a student who has too much time on his hands. Still, I have long decided to continue translating until I finish all the series I picked up, which I continue to mention from time to time. Mainly OSO it is, though I want to do Antimagic short stories on the next occasion, at least one for now.

Speaking of Antimagic, like certain no name had posted in comment (thanks for the tip!), there is a new light novel coming from the author of Antimagic, Yanagimi-sensei, called "Iwakutsuki Mazoku Kyoushi to Tenshi Kouhousei" translating into "A Demon Teacher With Circumstances, and an Angel Candidate". I have yet to buy and read it, and probably will do so soon so I might do a review first volume next time. Also, yes, it's the novel that you see the cover of above on the right.

All right, now for the meat: the link to the chapter you were waiting for. Unfortunately no illustration for the chapter :(.

PS: It's a huge shame I'm so behind in translations, because vol15 is going to have Yun in swimsuit (and also other cast in swimsuits), apparently. I might as well drop the illustrations of it disregarding no-spoiler policy that I had, just for people to worship it when it comes.

...Still, we never know when my soul burns on fire for translating again. Let's hope it does and I catch up to my stuff.
